Oddbird Wine vs. Non-Alcoholic: Tested French Earthiness Meets Refreshing Trend…
We recently sipped on the Oddbird GSM Non-Alcoholic Red Wine, a de-alcoholized 25-ounce bottle hailing from the South of France. Our first impression was of its striking balance—acidy earthiness merged with subtle fruity touches. While we missed the full-bodied intensity of traditional wine, Oddbird’s approach to flavor transmission was impressive. The GSM blend, typically known for Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, felt authentically repraised here in its non-alcoholic form. Crisp and refreshing, it lacked the heavy tannins but embraced a brighter acidity. Our palate found it surprisingly versatile, pairing well with earthy cheeses. Though we’re not entirely swap-ready (some complexity is lost), Oddbird offers a commendable representation of French terroir in a trending format.
